「Reprint」一字，就《劍橋詞典》（線上版）的定義為『to print  a book  again, or to be printed again』（Reprint為動詞時）、『the act of printing a book again, or a book  that has been reprinted』（Reprint為名詞時）（資料來源：https://dictionary.cambridge.org/zht/%E8%A9%9E%E5%85%B8/%E8%8B%B1%E8%AA%...）。

 

其中文意譯有兩個含意，即重印、再版。「重印」指重新印刷（資料來源：https://dict.revised.moe.edu.tw/dictView.jsp?ID=126896&word=%E9%87%8D%E5...）；「再版」指第二次出版或重新修訂出版（資料來源：https://dict.revised.moe.edu.tw/dictView.jsp?ID=138340&word=%E5%86%8D%E7...）。兩個含意在實質上是不相同的。

 

西文編目實務上，遇有「Reprint」，除非依據相關資料足以確定其內容、文字或版面有重大修訂時，方稱為「再版」，倘無修訂而僅是加印，則指「重印」。

 

「Reprint」之實例如下：

008/11-14=2018　(Date 2)

若重印的資訊並未在圖書資料上被呈現出來（意即在書上並未強調該書為重印或再出版），那麼實務上也可著錄為：

 

008/06= t　(Publication date and copyright date)

008/07-10= 2013　(Date 1)

008/11-14= 2010　(Date 2)

264  #1  $a [New York, NY] :  $b Scholastic Inc.,  $c [2013]

264  #4 $c ©2010

 

若依據相關資料足以確定其內容、文字或版面有重大修訂時，則是「再版」、「三版」或「修訂版」。此種情形，在圖書資料上或許會有不同於先前版本的版本資訊，編目時需另建1筆書目、並著錄版本項（MARC 21欄位250）。例如：

008/07-10= 2019　(Date 1)

008/11-14= 1999　(Date 2)

目前並無判斷要不要取reprint年份為出版年的標準，而是視實務上在編圖書資料的實際情形來考量，當然，編目員也需憑其編目實務經驗進行判斷。
