Resource Description and Access (RDA) and its intended purpose of replacing the Anglo-American cataloguing rules has spurred a variety of books and journal articles on RDA itself and its primary theoretical model, the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR), over the past five years.1 The Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD) is another of the underlying RDA theoretical models and Jin's book Demystifying FRAD is the first to treat this topic.2 From the outset Jin identifies the purpose of this book as providing "a basic explanation" of FRAD.
